Squid Game Retrospective

Report

This retrospective, inspired by the show "Squid Game", is designed to facilitate a structured and engaging team reflection session. Follow these steps to effectively utilise the template:

Step 1: Preparation

  • Schedule the Retrospective: Ensure all team members are available and have access to the necessary tools for participation.

  • Set the Scene: Briefly explain the "Squid Game" theme to the team to create a fun and engaging atmosphere.

Step 2: Icebreaker

  • Favourite Childhood Game: Begin the session with an icebreaker. Ask participants to share an image of their favourite childhood game. This helps to lighten the mood and encourages participation.

Step 3: Individual Reflection

  • Red Light, Green Light: Ask participants to reflect on what the team should stop and continue doing.

  • Glass Bridge: Encourage them to consider where the team has left things to chance and what risks lie ahead.

  • Honeycomb Candy / Dalgona: Focus on areas needing more attention and accuracy.

  • Tug of War: Identify areas where the team feels pulled in different directions.

  • Marbles: Reflect on what team members are holding back and not sharing.

Step 4: Group Discussion

  • Theme Identification: As a team, combine individual reflections into common themes.

  • Voting: Vote on the highest priority themes or groups to focus on.

Step 5: Action Items

  • Discussion: Discuss the prioritised themes and determine actionable steps.

  • Documentation: Record the action items and assign responsibilities to ensure follow-through.

Step 6: Closing

  • Review: Summarise the session’s outcomes and express appreciation for the team’s participation.

  • Follow-Up: Set a date for the next retrospective to review progress on action items.

G'day, I'm Paul from the country where it's always tomorrow. You'd know it as Australia. I'm an Agile Coach, helping teams think differently to solve problems. I'm also a big believer in making work fun - one great way of doing that is by mixing up the normal drudgery of meetings. The templates I create here can be used to bring alignment and collaboration, but in fun ways using games, themes, movies, music. If you think it, you can do it.
